Escapade and Escapade II

Editor’s Note: I really like how they incorporated the bumper / step off around the entire perimeter of the hydro. Even had rudder protection.

  1. The man in the white coveralls by the Escapade and the woman with the short hair directly in front of him are my mother and father. My father, Francois Lavigne piloted the Escapade into the late 1950s. He was quite successful. He also achieved a world speed record in his class with the Escapade (a little over 125 miles an hour on a closed-circle mile). The boat was built by Henry Lauderbach and was owned by Dr. Latour. In the mid-sixties Dr. Latout sold the Escapade and she was renamed Miss Québec II and in a few years later she was destroyed in an accident during a heat that also cost the life of her pilot.
