Oct 4 Another hydro restoration to follow as it is brought back to life! This one is a  vintage 1967 "Bluefin" hydroplane that has been located in England and is moved to France for restoration.  Now that summer is over, I'm sure we'll start  seeing more updates as these owners continue their restoration efforts. Best of luck to you owners with your upcoming vintage bench racing season!
Oct 2 Have you noticed that those annoying ads are gone! There are lots of other nice changes that will also be added including a new url which will be easy for everyone to remember: www.vintagehydroplanes.com   Should be ready in the next few days.
I am also going to be adding a Hydroplanes and Parts/Misc. for Sale section............. so check out those garages and if you have parts laying around,  put 'em up for sale and help somebody with their restoration efforts and make room at the same time.  Send me your lists (and photos if you can get one) of your parts, and I'll start this asap.
Oct 1 I got sick of the runaround with the old message board. So.....I found a new one. I like this forum and visit it regularly with other sites that I frequent. Here it is: Message Board!!
The old message board is still available for reference and can be found as the last link on the home page.
Sept 28 The Message Board has been getting alot of "sorry, the servers are busy" when you try to post a message.  I will be scrapping this board soon.
Sept 22 I want to thank everybody for the emails that I have received with all the excellent suggestions for additional web site space......I was hesitant about even asking what I should do, but I'm glad I did. I will let you know what will happen soon, but one thing for sure is that this site will stay active and will keep expanding with everybody's help!
I am also going to keep building sister websites to keep the information flowing about the Vintage Hydroplanes & Raceboats. If you have an idea, please send me an email.
In the meantime, please keep sending in information and photos for this website.  There still is a couple of regatta's we don't have any reports on. I am working on a writing a technical article and would appreciate some of you other "closet" authors to get those fingers tapping and pound out some articles for publication on this web site.
Sept 15 We are faced with a dilema for the site and would like some ideas. I have used up all the free space allowed to me for this web site.  The way I'm looking at it, I have 3 options:
1.  I can move the site to another server (which I would rather not do, lots of work)
2. I can start paying for additional space.  I don't mind donating all the time to maintain the site, but having to open my checkbook every month on top of all my time, is going to make me feel is it worth even having the site.
3. Keep removing older pages to make space for the newer pages. This to me will greatly limit the growth of the site and additional featured hulls.
I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY IDEAS YOU HAVE!!!
Sept 14 Another feature article titled The Story of the rescue of an old inboard Hydroplane.
A note from this site's Webmaster.
Sept 13 Five Photos added to the R/C Fleet.
Sept 10 Cypress Gardens Regatta cancelled. 2001 Schedule of Events.
Aug 22 I cleaned up the Links page and added a bunch of links that may be helpful in your vintage raceboat's restoration.
If you are registering your hull with the directory, the link to Submit the information is not working. Please email me with that information until I fiqure out how to fix this dilema.
Aug 20 We have another sister  web site.   It is devoted to Art Asbury.  Read all about the career of Canada's fastest hydroplane pilot. Great reading highlighted by awards, speed records, historical notes and to top it all off,  tons of racing photos from the Asbury's family Photo Album!!!
A Big Thanks to Charlotte!  Also contributions from Eloise, Wendy,  and Sharon. Be sure to check this one out!

A page added for the ACBS Red Wing, MN show.

Aug 19 A page added for the Hampton Cup vintage hydroplanes that attended the show.
Aug 17 A story posted on Henry Lauterbach driving the Wa Wa again.
Aug 16 Celina Governor's Cup Regatta just added vintage to the Schedule of Events.  It's next weekend 25-26.  Click on the event name when the page loads for more info.

The Benefits of Flipping your Hydro, an information packed and humorous featured article written by Alan Radue on flipping your hydroplane over.
Remember, if you have a story or article you would like to share with others, please send it in.  It would be great to see some tech articles, raceboat stories, maybe a experience at a race, or maybe just getting to the race......whatever you can think of!!!
Aug 5 The rebuild of my hydro, Moonshine Baby is now completed. It has been almost 1 year since I last updated my rebuild on this hull. April 13 I just finished reading a complimentary newsletter called Propwash from The Dayton Motor Boat Racing Association. Very interesting reading with 4 stories on vintage hydroplanes, current hydro information, race schedules, classifieds, etc. If you
can't get enough hyroplane news, you should consider joining this fine organization. Dues are only $15.00/year. They keep the spirit of hydroplaning alive through their newsletter and events. I can't believe that Dayton Testing on April 28 & 29 is so close.  Contact Jack Hines or Phil Kunz if you would like to attend this event or would like to join the association.
New layout for the Directory of Vintage Owners. Fifty-Six raceboats now entered.
April 5 Miss Close Shave has 3 new photos and more updates on the restoration efforts.

Mar 25 Happy Anniversary to this site. It was one year ago that I uploaded the files for the start of this website. A huge Thank You goes to everybody who sent in photos of the raceboats,  stories,  and features. I never thought the response who be so good. I hope this year we can get even more contributions.  Remember, this site needs your help with photos, features, stories, and communications to keep growing.

Feb 13 Well, after lots of research and hard work, I am proud to announce the new addition to the web site. In fact, it started to get too big, so I moved it to its own web site. This site features the photographic work of our good friend and racing historian, Phil Kunz. On this site, you can read about vintage and current inboard hydroplanes and flatbottoms, the different classes for both divisions, and a 5 part feature on hydroplane builders. We hope you find the new site enjoyable and informative.
