Oct 4	A report by Olivier Guerin of the CMC hydro show last weekend in Angers, France. Photos, as well as 5 audio/video files. Check out the on the water action in this beautiful town in France.  The Vintage Mailbox . Posted 4 computer generated pictures of hydros.
Sept 30	A new section on the website. The Vintage Mailbox.  A photo of r/c Obsession builder, owner/driver and riding mechanic added to Hank's page.
Sept 29	Yankee Doodle V is off the jig and bottom is on. (last 5 photos on page).  Another raceboat has met it's demise in the Where are they now? section. Lil Mogul S-2. December 1962 Propeller - features National High Point Winners for 1962.
Sept 28	A new section started, APBA Propeller Past. The first articles are from March 1962. Confusion and remedy for boat numbers for east and west coast raceboats, Safety Issue - S hooks, 135 Kilo record, Detroit Boat show, and ads from the Swap Shop. New kilo speed record in A and H class hydroplane.
Sept 25	A new face lift to the entire site is complete. Added a new tech article, Bailer Transom Plug(s).
Sept 18	Happy Buddah has a page on the website showing the results of a 4 year restoration on this 1968 Charles Lloyd built, 280 cubic inch class, vintage hydroplane. Well, it has been down for over a month, and after 5 or 6 emails and at least an hour on the phone with YaHoo, the search engine for the website is back up and running.....whew!!! Seems like the bigger the company is, the less their people know. Thank you to the one tech guy who actually spent some time working on our problem and helped us out! (He also thought the site was cool and was going to visit it on his own time....everybody just loves these old raceboats). I have rebuilt the Where are they now? section of the website.....From time to time, we see inquiry's on the messageboard from people looking to find out "where is their old racing hull?" If you are one of them, send me a photo and/or note and I'll post your inquiry. A gracious individual has just donated a bunch of old APBA Propeller magazines for me to use for the website. What fun, reading these Propeller's from the 60's and 70's action, as it was happening. When I have a little "free" time, I'll take some of the more noteworthy articles and scan/copy/post them to the website. A big round of applause to this kind individual!

Sep 8	A new addition to the historical hydroplane section, ROAD RUNNER Y-88 by Art McDougall.  Also a r/c model made of ROAD RUNNER Y-88. A 7-litre conventional hydro added For Sale.

Aug 27	With many thanks to Phil Kunz, I have started uploading the 2002 Antique Race Boat Regatta pages. Since I have so many pages on the website for this event, I have constructed a main page for Clayton to help navigate through the 3 events from this show now on the site. I will be adding many pages in the next few days, so keep checking back!
Aug 24	Another ad posted in the Old Classified For Sale ads from long ago. I really like reading these, anybody else have some old Propellers and care to share some of the more notables? I recently found and met with the 4th owner of my Moonshine Baby hydroplane and have completed the history page for my vintage racing hull.
Aug 22	On a personal note...I apologize for the lack of updates lately to the website.....been extremely busy......I hate the fact that I have not made it to even one vintage event this summer and my Moonshine Baby still sits "buried", in the back of my garage. She remains a "trailer queen"and still awaits her first run on the water. But my next restoration project (1966 Ford Fairlane) has neared completion after many long evenings and weekends. After finishing of the "Baby" last fall. I did not think I would complete this next project so soon. Next summer, I hope to take her to at least a couple of events, pending no more "great" restoration deals that come my way to consume all my free time again! Anyways, I'm off to the dragstrip to have some fun with my muscle car! Now....back to vintage racing hulls..........I am not the only one who has finished up another restoration project. Below are 3 new articles detailing racing hull restoration projects and their maiden voyages. We're sure helping out the champagne industry! Miss Close Shave II has 3 photos added that show her first shakedown run under power. The "mystery" hydro of Oliver Guerin has 5 photos on a new webpage for her first shakedown run. Tempo VI has 5 photos added showing completion of this 1/4 scale r/c model. Shakedown run photos to follow soon.  Also, the Directory of Owners now has 101 racing hulls registered. I have also added a section on the home page to link to new photos that owners have added to their entry in the directory. I will post these right under the "Photo of the Month" section. If you are a owner and do not have a photo to go with your entry, please forward one to me. As you all know, a photo is worth a 1000 words and it is always nice to see what we're reading about!

These are large photos on the 5 pages, so I added some background music to make your visit to these pages more enjoyable. Two racing hulls added to the For Sale section.
July 26	A story about a Fred Wicken's hydroplane that made it's way to Australia. A important footnote, regarding safety, added to the Plugs for your Exhaust Pipes tech article. any thanks, to the individual who pointed this out to me!
July 20	Yankee Doodle V added to the Historical section. A replica of the famous Fred Wickens racing hull, Yankee Doodle V, is being constructed by Keith Brayer. Started a new page for Agitator in Vintage Racing Hulls as they are today section.  An informative article, Edge Bonding authored by Bill John is added in the Tech Article section. A link to see all the vintage raceboat photos from Madison/Detroit events. Thanks again to Bill John for all his hard work in preparing these pages on the NHACBM website.
July 15	Three web pages packed with photos & information posted on the 25th Annual Niagara Frontier Antique & Classic Boat Show & Race Boat Reunion.  A new section titled Featured Tech Articles has been started. I have moved some of the articles that relate to restoration tips into it's own section. If you have come across a neat idea, (here's one I recently came up with) or can contribute to a technical article, please contact me and share it with all the racing hull restorer's out there.
July 9	From reading the messageboard, sounds like everything went very well in Madison for the vintage raceboats. Here's a newspaper article from the Madison Courier about the Vintage Class attending the powerboat races this year.

July 1	Tom D'Eath's very first article for Propeller magazine, published in January 1994 is posted.
June 26	Agitator has it's first rebuilt motor ready to go.
June 23	Miss Close Shave II is back on the water after 38 years. Agitator has 2 new photos added. At Phil Kunz Photography, National Champions for A class hulls now has all years posted. Thanks to Tom and Judy D'Eath for providing this data.
June 20	Super Stock Racing Runabout and Ski Racing Runabout Competition and Straightaway speed records posted. Thanks again goes to Cassandra for converting to html. These are all the Speed Records that we have from Bob Foley. We are still looking for somebody to help accumulate the records for all the years that Bob doesn't have Propeller issues for. If you have them and would like to help out, let me know.  A beautifully restored Ventnor hydroplane feature is added. A Press Release forwarded from Joe Johnson regarding the Vintage Class at Madison.
June 19	Australian Powerboat Racing. A very interesting article written by Graeme Morley outlining the growth of Australian powerboat racing from WW2 to the present.
June 18	E Class Racing Runabout and  K Class Racing Runabout  and Crackerbox Racing Runabout Competition and Straightaway Speed Records posted. Many thanks to my daughter, Cassandra, for helping out all of us by converting these 3 classes of Bob Foley's documentation to HTML format for the website. She did a great job! Also.......Bob Foley has taken an extended trip and will not return until mid September......If you have speed records in any of these classes that you want to add, hold on to them until he gets back, or you can email them to me in the interim.

May 22	Thanks to Bob Foley, we have started to work on listing Speed Records for the various racing classes. The first one is for Y Class. This data will include Competition and Mile/Kilo straightaway records. There is a tremendous amount of work involved in accumulating this data and I hope you all let Bob know how much it is appreciated! Another classic listed in the Hydros For Sale.
May 12	A bunch of Lauterbach hydroplane parts listed For Sale. Tastin' N Racin' has been added to the 2002 Schedule of Vintage Events. Last year, Tastin’ n Racin’ saw 50,000 spectators on the shores of Lake Sammamish State Park enjoying the thrill of deck-to-deck boat racing. This year with the addition of the Unlimited Light’s and Vintage Class racing hulls, the number of spectators is sure to double!

Apr 21	One First Time, a wonderful story, authored by Alan Radue. After a long restoration of Agitator and he and his racing hulls moment at Dayton Testing recapping his weekend. Added more bio information that was recently uncovered for Wild Card E-148.  Another vintage event (now 11) added to the 2002 Schedule of Vintage Events. With another in the works. I will keep you posted when more information arrives.  Testing for the Pavia-Venezia Raid in France - Spring 2002. A report from Olivier Guerin.
Apr 6	Herve Fressard has a historical page added for the Italian-built hydroplane, Miss Bedelia as well as a restoration page for his French-built, 1950's runabout, Liuzza Star. Olivier Guerin added 3 restoration photos for his "mystery" English-built hydroplane. Randy Wold added 3 photos from the late 1960's in Parker, Arizona to his Cumon Baby historical hydroplane page. Cleaned up and refreshed the former GP world record holder hydro, Canadiana Gran Prix page with the latest information from the 2 new owners, Marv Hart and Skip Rawson.
Apr 3	A photo of the new Jon Staudacher designed hydroplane added to the home page on Phil Kunz Photography & Historical website. If you're a member of the Dayton Motor Boat Racing Assn. you have already read about this hydroplane, in the newest edition of PROPWASH, as well as articles on World Water Speed Records hydro designs and other hydro-related stories. Mar 28	A new restoration page started for Agitator. Alan has 2 photos added as he has completed his trailer. Looks like the man just might make it to Dayton Testing. The English-built "mystery" hydroplane from our French friend, Oliver has 3 photos added showing completed varnishing on the bottom of his racing hull. Miss Bedelia, the Italian hydro is almost completed as our other French friend, Herve, finishes up this beauty. Three new photos added.
Mar 27	A Farmer-built hull, Santana added to the restoration section. Hank's R/C Fleet has another hydro model added. (Last photo on the page). Another hydro sold and Hemi Valve covers added in the For Sale section. 20 people now registered in the Former Racersdirectory. 92 racing hulls now registered in the Vintage Owners directory.
Mar 15	In a little more than week from today, March 24, it  will be The Vintage Hydroplanes 2nd Anniversary.......Man........time flies when you're having fun! I can't believe how well it has been received by all of you and the growth of the website. I want to say Thank You to everybody for contributing. This website may not be the most "glamorous" looking one out there, but it is a "working" website with what always seems like lots always going on.............but what it may lack in glitz..........it sure makes up with the stunning photographs on all the featured, restored hydroplanes! I really enjoy working with all of you and my hope for the website is for it's continued growth for many more years to come!!.......I will be off to Florida shortly for a vacation and attending the Mt. Dora boat show.......So for the website's Anniversay......I leave you with all of Tom D'Eath's from the vintage notebook articles that have appeared in the APBA Propeller magazine since Tom starting writing them. They are all now available for your reading and researching enjoyment. I want to also thank Tom's wife, Judy, for all her hard work in preparing all these articles!..........So.....until I'm back on line in a week or 2.....enjoy all of Tom's articles, fill my email box with lots a photos and stories on those restoration projects, and I promise to bring back lots of photos to post from the show!
Mar 13	Phil Kunz has written a great historical article, complete with photographs, covering the evolution of the "conventional" raceboat into the rear-engined, enclosed cab-over, titled "THE HISTORY of the INBOARD CAB-OVER". A must read for you vintage hydroplane buffs.

Mar 3	Tempo VI has a new photo as works continues.  A story titled The Wheel Is The Deal by Bob Foley added to the featured articles. Kerry Sauley Collectibles has a page added. Kerry has lots of photos of old raceboats that he is selling.
Feb 25	More progress in the restoration of the Charles Lloyd built, Alan Radue restored, Agitator with 2 photos. More progress in the restoration of the "mystery" built vintage hydroplane, (originally in England) and now being restored by Olivier Guerin in France. Six new photos and a new page started. Take a look and drop Olivier an email if you have an idea who built his racing hull. If you haven't noticed, 2 hydros were SOLD in the For Sale section. Hopefully, the 2 new owners will register the hydros with the site and update us on the restoration work. Man, you've got to admit, restorations taking place world-wide on these vintage hydroplanes. This is great!

Feb 7	Ten photos posted from the International Event that was held in 2001 in France that is called  Chalon-sur-saone by our friend Olivier Guerin. This weekend is the big vintage raceboat event held in Paris, France, named Retromoblile put on by the Cercle du motonautisme classique antique raceboat club. Olivier will be sending photos from that show next week. Check this out, as our friends from overseas really know how to build some beautiful racing hulls. Looks like we're going to have to start buying airline tickets for vintage racing shows abroad, for this one!

Jan 28	Progress in the restoration of the Blufin built, English hydroplane has been made with 4 more photos in the International hydroplane section. A Directory of Former Racing Members has been started. If you were a owner, driver, builder, (engine or hulls), crewmember, official, etc. and participated in creating all the history that this website is about, then feel free to register yourself into this directory. Hopefully, it will become the internet who's who of vintage powerboat racing.

Jan 22	Have you been to the directory lately? We've just had our 85th racing hull (and our first unlimited class) register. We have categories for Limited and Unlimited Inboard, Gold Cup, Flatbottom, Drag, Outboard, and International classes. We're building a library of owners and their boats and welcome anybody who has a vintage racing hull to register.

Jan 1	Happy New Year! Another new year brings a new set of goals for this web site and our sport. It looks like two more Vintage Regatta's will be added to this year's circuit.  Which is great as there is going to be more raceboats that will be resurrected and restored and will be joining the current fleet of vintage racing hulls. It is nice to see growth and positive changes. Some of my personal challenges from last year was finishing up my rebuild of my hydro and writing a tech article about marine finishes for wood. The article has been in the writing stages for the last few months, but I finished it up this morning. It's a long read, but hopefully, some of you guys who are looking at refinishing your hulls can get something worthwhile from it.
