Yankee Doodle V

This is an early photo of a Fred Wicken's designed and built 3-point hydroplane.
Keith Brayer is currently building a copy of this famous hull. As far as he can tell, only four of these hulls were built around 1946-47 before Ventnor's lawyers told Fred to pay a licensing fee or knock it off. Fred stopped building three points until Ventnor went out of business around 1954.
One of Sid Street's first boats was the Yankee Doodle V
After that, it was retired and was called Sid's Ace.

Here is a Champion Spark Plug ad that featured this hydro.

These two pictures are from Fred Wicken's shop showing the very unique lines of this early 3-point hydroplane.

TEXAN 42-A, the sister ship to Yankee Doodle V.
Another Wicken's version campaigned as Rudy Toot.

I am currently building this early 3-point hydroplane, Yankee Doodle V.
