{"id":2096,"date":"2017-09-17T10:13:33","date_gmt":"2017-09-17T15:13:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vintagehydroplanes.com\/Blog\/?p=2096"},"modified":"2017-09-17T10:22:15","modified_gmt":"2017-09-17T15:22:15","slug":"madison-vintage-thunder-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vintagehydroplanes.com\/Blog\/madison-vintage-thunder-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Madison Vintage Thunder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PRESS RELEASE &#8211; Upcoming Sports Event<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 640px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-2096-1\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vintagehydroplanes.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/2017-Madison-Vintage-Thunder.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vintagehydroplanes.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/2017-Madison-Vintage-Thunder.mp4\">http:\/\/www.vintagehydroplanes.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/2017-Madison-Vintage-Thunder.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>Announcing the second annual &#8220;Madison Vintage Thunder&#8221; &#8211; hydroplanes in Madison, Indiana.<\/p>\n<p>A group of Vintage Hydroplane owners formed a club called &#8220;5ToThe5&#8221; that will put on the second annual &#8220;Madison Vintage Thunder&#8221;.\u00a0 Come to see these refurbished hydroplanes that raced over the years and are now on the water again with the roar of the engines, and water &#8220;roostertails&#8221; flying high in the air.<\/p>\n<p>With support of the Madison community, the group obtained the A.P.B.A. sanctioning necessary to sponsor vintage hydroplanes on the Ohio River. The event sponsors are expecting between 40 to 50 hydroplanes to provide spectators with hours of hydroplane action on the water.\u00a0 There will be Unlimited hydroplanes, and several classes of vintage limited raceboats on display and providing action on the water.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, on the shore there will be a vintage car show, including a Corvette club.\u00a0 On Saturday evening there will be live bands performing music on the riverfront.\u00a0 Food vendors and activities for the kids will be on hand for a complete &#8220;Family Oriented Event&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Honored at this event:<br \/>\nThe late Graham Heath, former owner of the <strong>Miss Kentuckiana Paving<\/strong> hydroplane.\u00a0 Graham Heath was also the lead mechanic on the very first <strong>Miss Madison<\/strong> hydroplane back in the 1960&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>The late &#8220;Wild&#8221; Bill Cantrell will be honored as the former Gold Cup winning driver of the <strong>My Sweetie<\/strong> and driver of the <strong>Miss Kentuckiana Paving<\/strong>.\u00a0 Bill Cantrell also was an Indianapolis 500 auto driver and his &#8220;Indy&#8221; car will be on display on the riverfront.<\/p>\n<p>Ken Warby, the &#8220;Fastest Man on Water&#8221;.
