Directory of Former & Current Vintage Raceboat Members

It’s been about 7 months since I last updated this Directory (sorry been busy) and we now have another dozen folks who had submitted some tidbits of info on their past racing exploits. We have almost have 200 entries now! A few of the new entries were siblings of former race boat owner / drivers who are no longer with us. If you were connected to the sport of boat racing, please consider adding a few notes about yourself into our Directory. It’s a great way to connect with past friends you raced with and against. Google’s search robots are constantly scouring this web site and if you don’t have a unique name (like Bob Smith), chances are, your name will appear on the search listings and folks might find your story there, and can contact you via email (and/or phone if you included that in your post). If you want to add some info, there is a link to a form on the bottom of that webpage. You can also just email with your story as well or you need me to update your story, edit contact info, etc.

  1. Several years ago you posted an email thread between “sky skier” and “river cop”. Sky skier mentioned his family had a cabin on the river in Movalia Keys on the Parker strip when he was young and he was in possession of a home movie taken during the 1972 Nine Hour Enduro, showing the fatal crash of Bob Ellis, in boat #500, “Gummy’s Holiday”. I was made aware of the existence of this home movie during his wake but have since been unsuccessful in locating it. No one in the family (though most have passed on) had any idea what really happened and it has haunted us for over 50 years. As his eldest child (I was 17 when he died), and on behalf of my siblings, i would very much like to be put in touch with “sky skier” and/or hopefully obtain a copy of the home movie so we can put our questions to rest. Does Vintage Hydroplanes or anyone you know have a way to contact “sky skier” and relay to them our request? Please feel free to post my email: peppysmom@rocketmail.com if they want to contact me directly. Any information regarding the fatal crash of Bob Ellis during the 1972 Parker Nine Hour is gratefully appreciated! Thank you!
